Who doesn’t love hot chocolate? It’s rich, indulgent and absolutely delicious – but, let’s face it, it doesn’t top many healthy eating lists. That’s where BenBanter’s Keto Hot Chocolate comes in.
Like everything in our range, it’s low carb, sugar-free and all natural. So you can have all the chocolaty decadence, hot or cold, with none of the guilt.
It’s also ideal for use in making several delicious (and mostly healthy) keto desserts and sweet treats.
Keto chocolate pudding
It takes just minutes to whip up this low-carb chocolate pudding, and it’s absolutely delicious.
1 cup heavy cream
¾ tsp unflavoured gelatine powder
3 to 4 Tbsp Keto Hot Chocolate
1 tsp vanilla extract or essence
Start by measuring out ¼ cup heavy cream. Sprinkle the gelatine power over it and whisk.
Mix all remaining ingredients, except the vanilla, in a pot. Stir over medium heat, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 4 minutes).
Add the thickened gelatine and cream mixture to the chocolate mixture, and whisk until smooth.
Cool, cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Yes, you read that right. You can make a keto-friendly version of everyone’s favourite chocolate spread using our hot chocolate.
400 g blanched hazelnuts
1 Tbsp avocado oil
50 g Keto Hot Chocolate
Pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 150° C. Once it’s up to heat, toast 400 grams of blanched hazelnuts in a rimmed baking tray until golden (about 12 minutes).
Blend the nuts in a food processor. As they begin to form a paste, add 1 tablespoon of avocado oil. Continue blending until completely smooth. This could take several minutes.
Add 50 grams of our Keto Hot Chocolate, powdered xylitol to taste and a few pinches of salt, and blend. Transfer the mixture to a jar and pop it in the fridge until set.
This healthy version of keto nutella is the ideal fix for late-afternoon or evening chocolate cravings.
These fudgy, low-carb cookies take less than 15 minutes to whip up.
1 cup almond flour
2 Tbsp Keto Hot Chocolate
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
2 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp coconut oil
Preheat the oven to 160°C, and stir together 1 cup almond flour, 2 Tbsp BenBanter Keto Hot Chocolate, ¼ tsp salt and a pinch of baking soda. Add 2 Tbsp milk and 1 Tbsp coconut oil to form a dough.
Roll into balls and place on a greased baking tray. Press down with a fork, if desired, for flatter cookies. Bake for 11 minutes.
Allow to cool, and enjoy. Or, if you’re craving an ice-cream sandwich, pair your cookie with…
Keto chocolate ice cream
You can also make ice cream with our Keto Chocolate Mousse (just add to cream and freeze!).
What follows is a more traditional ice cream recipe. It involves making a simple keto chocolate custard and freezing that.
1 cup heavy cream
2.5 Tbsp BenBanter Keto Hot Chocolate
3 eggs (1 whole and 2 yolks)
¼ cup powdered xylitol
Add 1 cup heavy cream and 2.5 Tbsp of our Hot Chocolate to a non-stick pot. Bring to a boil. Keep stirring, getting rid of any clumps.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 whole egg and 2 egg yolks with ¼ cup powdered xylitol, and place this bowl over a pot of boiling water.
Drizzle the cream and hot chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring constantly. Over the boiling water, continue stirring for about 6 minutes, or until the mixture is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.
Allow the mixture to cool, and then chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Place the mixture into your ice-cream maker.
Alternatively, if you don’t have an ice-cream maker, go the DIY route. Place the bowl in your freezer and stir every hour for the first two hours and every 30 minutes after that, until the mixture has been in the freezer for five hours. Done!
