A healthy alternative to Cheetos and Wotsits

Consider how our keto cheese puffs compare to two of Singapore’s other popular cheesy snacks – Cheetos Crunchy Flamin’ Hot Cheese-flavored Snacks and Walkers Baked Really Cheesy Flavour Corn Puffs.

Cheetos and Wotsits both contain highly processed, high-carb, nutritionally empty ingredients. These include unhealthy oils, colourings and flavourings.

To say it again – the only ingredient in our keto cheese puffs is Gouda cheese.

Cheetos Crunchy Flamin’ Hot Cheese ingredients: Enriched Corn Meal (Corn Meal, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Thiamin Mononitrate, Riboflavin, Folic Acid), Vegetable Oil (Corn, Canola, and/or Sunflower Oil), Flamin’ Hot Seasoning (Maltodextrin [Made from Corn], Salt, Sugar, Monosodium Glutamate, Yeast Extract, Citric Acid, Artificial Color [Red 40 Lake, Yellow 6 Lake, Yellow 6, Yellow 5], Sunflower Oil, Cheddar Cheese [Milk, Cheese Cultures, Salt, Enzymes], Onion Powder, Whey, Whey Protein Concentrate, Garlic Powder, Natural Flavor, Buttermilk, Sodium Diacetate, Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate), and Salt.

15 g of carbohydrates per 28 g packet.

Walkers Baked Wotsits Really Cheesy Flavour Corn Puffs: Maize, Rapeseed Oil, Cheese Flavour [Dried Cheese (from Milk) (7%), Milk Lactose, Flavour Enhancer (Disodium 5’-Ribonucleotide), Acid (Lactic Acid), Colours (Paprika Extract, Annatto), Natural Flavouring, Salt, Potassium Chloride].

12.6 g of carbohydrates per 22.5 g packet.

These are just a few of the ingredients in Cheetos and Wotsits that are best avoided:

  • unhealthy oils, such as corn, canola, palm, soybean, grapeseed, peanut, sunflower and safflower oil
  • food colourings – Yellow 6 in particular, which is banned in some countries because of concerns that it’s carcinogenic, allergenic and can cause hyperactivity in children
  • maltodextrin, which has a high glycaemic index and causes a spike in blood-sugar levels
  • highly processed, high-carb grains, such as corn and maize.

Add a little spice

Of course, many Singaporeans enjoy a little spice with their cheese snacks. This explains the popularity of snacks like the Flamin’ Hot Cheese Cheetos in Singapore.
